Have you every thanked God for the painful, difficult times in your life? God uses these seasons strengthen and mature our faith, and to mold us into the likeness of Jesus.
“A smooth sea never made a skillful sailor.” – President F.D. Roosevelt
This is a simple but wise saying that reminds us about the importance of dificulties in our life. Without times of challenge, we never learn new skills or gain the spiritual strength needed in order to endure. This is why the apostle Paul teaches us to “glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope:” (Rom. 5:3-4).
Everyone faces Challenges in this life. For some, it might be financial challenges or the losing one’s health. Others know the pain of the breakup of their family or the shattering of a dream. The question is not if one of these things will happen to us but when.
Rather than spend time worrying, we put our faith in God—the One who tells us, “And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you:” (Isa. 46:4).
